Research

Some questions do not resolve at the first search.

The surviving record

Research begins with the question, but it is governed by the evidence.

Daedalus examines questions that require sustained work across archival and documentary sources. The aim is a defensible account that distinguishes what the record establishes, suggests, and leaves unresolved.

Documentary method

01

Define

Frame the question and establish what a defensible answer would require.

02

Establish

Locate records, repositories, variants, gaps, and the context in which the sources were created.

03

Reconstruct

Compare the evidence, test its limits, and assemble a coherent documentary account.
